It informs the Owner / Buyer about the energy efficiency of the home by:
Giving an overall Actual Energy Performance Rating of the home – and a Potential Energy Performance rating of the home.
Giving an Actual Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emission rating of the home and a Potential CO2 emissions rating.
Summarising Energy and CO2 emissions into categories into categories of Actual and Potential usage and costs.
Summarising key elements of the home and Impact on energy performance.
Giving recommendations on how to improve Energy Efficiency and cut CO2 emissions and the costs for Implementing these recommendations.
If the Seller Implements any of the recommendations they can attach the documentation for this with the HIP when selling the property.
According to research nearly half of the U.K’s Carbon Dioxide emissions are produced from energy used by homes and travel. Average home produces 6 tonnes of CO2 per year. Due to the negative impact that CO2 emissions have on the Climate – the improved energy efficiency of homes is important in reducing CO2 gas emissions into atmosphere.
The European Parliament has initiated a requirement to decrease Carbon Dioxide emissions from homes – and this has been made part of our Government Legislation.
An EPC lasts for 10 years.
